I've been working very slowly on several small issues over the winter on my 76. I replaced the tach, clock, heater core, upgrade the fan motor to a C4, and replaced interior lights with LEDs.
Lights were working and blower motor ran great when tested, but at some point everything went south. Blower motor quit working, as did the instrument lights. I have courtesy lights, hi beam light and brake light.
The other instrument lights, tail lights and signal lights do not work. I may have unplugged something, but since I was working under the dash and under the hood I don't know where to start. Do these lights have a common source I can check?
Fuses look okay, and I don't think they are all on the same one. Any help would be greatly appreciated, please keep in mind that wiring and reading schematic diagrams is not my strongest suit.
thanks
Did you unplug the connector to the vacuum headlight switch? I removed the connector to install leds in the instrument cluster and then plugged the connector back into the switch. After no instrument lights, I realized that only half of the plug was mated to the switch. I had to remove the switch, attach the plug and then install the headlight switch. You will probably need to get a wiring schematic that is found in the Service Manual. Good luck
Looks of schematic a lot of the dash lights and headlight solenoids and other lights are tied together. They are on a 3 amp fuse. Did you use the correct leds as some can cause this kind of problem? The blower motor has the same connections? I would try the old motor just outside by plugging it in. If it does not work check your ground or run a grouna to case and see if it helps. Grounds on these cars are usually the trouble and the lights have many grounds tied together. I believe ground for dash area is on the left hand piller above fuse box. I do have a plan for you but it is too large for forum. If you PM me with email I can send. You need to have a test light to check for voltage or grounds at the very least and a meter is better. Good luck
I don't think its a ground. I ran a wire from the blower to the alternator and it fired up. I also ran a wire from the neg battery post to the speedo housing, still no lights. The LEDs were recommended by a forum member so they should be okay.
I have never had dealings with fusible links, is there one behind the dash? I didn't disconnect my battery so...
