I just picked up my first Corvette a couple of months ago, a 76. The previous owner had installed the FiTech EFI 40005 kit. The fuel pump is extremely loud and pretty annoying. The mechanic that just replaced the heater core for me commented about it, and said to keep an eye on it; it could go out. In doing a little research, I learned many others complained of this same thing. The pump with the kit is a 255 L/P inline EFI fuel pump. Do any of you know of another pump that I can substitute for this one that will do the job without all the racket? Any insights would be greatly appreciated as I am mechanically challenged and learning on the fly. Thanks.
Many on the forum have complained about electronic fuel pumps and the noise.
I believe the best solution is going to an in-tank fuel pump.
There have been several threads on FiTech and Holley Sniper EFI systems being installed on C3's.
If you search through those threads I'm sure you fill find something to answer many of your questions.
I have that inline pump and it's been running like that for months now. It's just LOUD. They offer a billet inline pump that's supposed to be quieter now.
I was over seeing a friends 1971 Coupe, that he just installed a Fitch 400 in.
It also have a Fitech inline pump, it is so loud, that this product should not be sold, in my mind.
