Fuel pump problem?
I have a 73 with a 350cid with auto, one time i fire my catr up and the psi gauge reads 3-4 psi, start up an hour later now is all over the between 10-20 psi, start up a couple hours later and holds steady at 5.5psi, start up an hour later is allo over the place again and is running like crap, hardly idles, sometimes runs great, turn off, start back up runs crappy, anyone have any insight please i believe this is fuel pump related

Have you recently installed a new fuel pump? I just installed a new carted fuel pump on my 79 and immediately started having problems with idle and driving speeds. I was running my vacuum canister off manifold vacuum with no problems before the new pump, so after searching this forum I read a post that said some engines don't like much more than 16-or-so degrees of ignition timing at idle, and will idle rough/poorly with too much advance and if the engine does not like the additional advance, use the ported source. I changed to ported vacuum and my rough idle and running went away. Not sure why a fuel pump would cause this problem but that is what I ran into.
