454 swap radiator question
I have a 1972 Corvette. As the thread states i am doing a 454 swap and made the determination that I need a new radiator. Since I had a 350 I am assuming the big block radiator is NOT a direct swap(given that it is bigger) ?
What are my options for a direct fit alum radiator? I assume i need a new radiator support frame?

What radiator do you currently have? The small block could have come with 2 radiators, a stock aluminum one and a 26.5" one with AC. The BBC radiator is a 27.5" radiator, and would need a new support if you had the small block aluminum radiator.

Hi all-
Made the determination that I will need a new rad as well as red support. My current rad is 23x17 and the car already runs over 200 with my 350.
I have ordered a new rad, rad supoort and all the new brackets etc
I also ordered a L88 hood from Stinger fiberglass.
New wheel bearings going in as well

The PO swapped the 327 for a 454 in my 68 convert. He installed an aluminum radiator that fit using the same lower supports and top bracket. The width will be the limiting factor for your swap. Get the thickest (four rows of tubes) aluminum radiator you can get. The 454 generates a lot of heat.

De Witts make a Heavy Duty radiator which will suit your 454 not cheap but a very good product. Also I had to put the rubber style front air dam on it’s the one which suits a 79 Vette with that on no more overheating issues

I like Champions. Just make sure you reinstall the foam. The nose cone has to be sealed from the engine compartment. this makes sure the air from under the nose goes through the radiator and not around it.
I also changed the thermostat cover to one with a plug in it so that I can bleed the system. It is the highest point.
I made my core support.
Keep in mind if you are going to make one, the hood hinges. I switched to a lift off hood.
