Default 82 Body Mounts

Good Morning,

In the process of changing out the body mounts on my 82 C3. Thanks to the advice on this forum was able to get all 8 bolts loose, while only breaking 1 #4 mount, which from reading in not all that bad compared to breaking #2/3 mounts.

Before I begin lifting the body (doing one side at a time), I wanted to confirm that I only need to do the following:
1) remove bolt that holds the brake distribution
2) loosen steering from firewall.

The car is currently on 4 stands is it okay to leave it up on them while raising the body, or it is better to put rear wheels back on a set the car to the ground?

Also, for an 82 is it necessary to remove any bumper components, or just loosen the bolts to the frame and leave the bumper attached?

Thanks!
Chris

When I did my 76.. I left all my tires on and raised the entire car up on wheel cribbing to get the highest and most stable access I could.

Default Replace body mounts

Chris, when I did mine, I removed the front bumper cover, the front body mount, disconnected the steering column at the rag joint, disconnected the brake lines from the master cylinder, and disconnected the ground straps. I jacked the body up with the frame sitting on HD jack stands but could only lift it a few inches because the frame would start to lift. The #1 and 4 mounts are fairly easy. The #2 and 3 mounts are difficult due to the body being channeled over the frame. Be careful and make sure everything is solidly stabile before working on it. Good luck.
