My dad has an 82 corvette. He has dealt with this for years. Just about every time he drives it, he can go 5-10 miles then the car will surge, the CEL will come on, then it will die. Let it cool off and it will fire right back up. Only code it ever gives is 14. He’s swapped the coolant temp sensor several times. Any ideas?

So, did anyone troubleshoot ckt 410 for short to ckt 452 or chassis grd? If 410 is good, your ECM is probably bad. You only replace the CTS sensor if you have code 14 and 15 together. You do have a GM service manual...right?! Look on page 6E-39

I haven’t had a chance to look into it yet. Admittedly, I have never done any work on pre-obd2 gas vehicles. I believe he has a service manual. I will try to check that circuit this weekend and report back. Thank you!

Sounds like the 7-pin control module is bad. Code 14 by it self may only be a soft set code due to how the engine is turning off.
Sorry I haven’t updated this. I finally got around to checking it out. Dad had a new ignition module that he swapped to try and it didn’t make a difference. So I checked both ect sensor wires for continuity and shorts. Everything checked good. Tested the sensor just for fun and it was good as well. So I swapped the ecm with a new one he has had for 20+ years. He’s put about 100 miles on it and so far so good. Hopefully it stays that way! Thanks for the help!

So, it looks like I was correct and the ECM was bad? Anyway, glad you got it running and driving again, good job. AMAZING how a little actual troubleshooting works vs just shot gunning parts works out.
