Default Heater seems to start

Sometimes when I am driving for more than an hour straight, I can feel heat coming from under the dash or maybe its from the floorboard (not sure), but it feels like I turned the heater on in the car. My temperature gauge is not showing the car is overheating or anything like that. Is it possible this is from my thermostat sticking and my temperature gauge is bad? Has anyone else experienced this?

A common complaint for C3's. They tend to radiate heat into the car from the engine, transmission and exhaust as well as from the heater itself. I have documented what I have done at http://home.attbi.com/~jchadwick/ventilation.htm. Do a search to see what others have done as well.
