Can anyone help me with some pictures of some corvettes with side exhaust. Preferably with the Hooker side exhaust system. I'm putting a built 427 (dyno'd at just over 600hp) in my 72' vette this winter and was thinking about going with the Hooker side exhaust sytem. Does anybody have any expierence with them? (fit & installation) Any help would be appreciated...Thanks!
I am running Hooker Header Side Pipes on my 468ci big block. I really love them, the sound is awesome. I took my mufflers out of the side tubes, so it's essentially open headers through the side pipes. 2 1/8" primary and 4" collectors really let the engine breath :)
I did my own sidepipes. I have Stahl sidepipe headers with 3.5" collectors. I have 4" baffles inside the home made side pipes.
That what I was thinking about trying, maybe making a little money if I can get it simple enough. I was thinking I'd put a bend in, cut it off parallel to the pipe that runs along the car, then a bend under the car, cut it off with about 3inches of straight pipe after the bend, then do another bent piece to go to the headers. The gap between those last two pieces would be filled with either a straight pipe, a cat, or a muffler. Then weld on a couple of mounting brackets to bolt it to the frame or something. Just an idea I was throwing around. Probably do it out of stainles so I wouldn't have to polish them up much to have them look good. Toss a heatshield on there also. Hmm, that would look nice.
'78 small block with the Hookers and Spiral Turbo Specialties baffles.
Awesome sound, tough on the shins if your not careful.
