Default Seven or Nine leaf?

Replacing rear leaf on my 1972 small block auto convertible.
Should I do seven or nine leaf?

It's 2019. Why are you sticking with a heavy crappy-riding steel spring?

Don't know much about the 7 leaf. I stayed with the stock style 9 leaf mainly for the lower cost and also did not want to take the chance of making the ride any stiffer. Fortunately it rides just fine for me cruising around town. So many other things on the car to spend money on right now.

Answering your question, the 7 leaf is the gymkhana sport suspension spring and should be matched to the front sport springs. The 9 leaf is the base suspension spring which most C3's usually came from the factory unless it was a BB C3 or a SBC C3 with the sport suspension.

Personal comment is ditch the steel spring and go with a composite which is far superior riding, allows a much higher spring rate to be used with a better ride, will not sag or wear out and saves 40 lbs over the steel spring.
