The feed fuel line will have the same pressure regardless of the regulator being at the tank or at the engine assuming the high pressure pump is in the tank.

The high pressure pump would have to be at the engine if you wanted to reduce the pressure in the feed fuel line.

Well, some say the regulator should be at the front. But G.M. puts it at the rear of the car. I was thinking of putting it on the frame just in front of the fuel tank. Thinking keeping the return line short would put less load on the pump. But then a fair few say. Put it as close to the fuel rail as possible. I am thinking of doing what G.M. does on there cars. Putting it in the rear. Keeping the line well away from the exhaust. And see how it goes.
