When I put the car in park I heard a weird noise. Maye a clunking not sure. Now when i put in drive it will move forward but it wont go when you hit the gas. Any ideas?
I assume when you hit the gas the engine rpm's increase?
You can start with seeing if something has happened with the shifter cable preventing the transmission selector lever from going into gear. If nothing wrong with the cable and the transmission dipstick indicates you have fluid the problem sounds like it is internal to the transmission.
Will the vehicle roll back & forth in neutral ok?
If not, sounds like parking brake issues. More specifically, the brake shoes are not releasing maybe.
you need to start with the cable to see if something has happened to it. You need either a lift or jack the car up to check. The cable may be capable of going from park into reverse and than bind due to a kink preventing drive engagement. If no cable problem the issue is internal.
We were under car last night. The cable does look a little bent. Just not sure what it is suppose to look like under there. Its being towed to our mechanic today. So here to hoping it not a major fix. Thanks for all the help
