Default Clutch recommendation

OK, sent an email the McLeod re the wear on the RST after only 13k miles. If I decide to replace vice rebuild, can anybody recommend a good clutch for the street with reasonable pedal effort of a 496 Big Block. T-56 Magnum (2.66 first), 3.73 12-bolt. The RST pedal definitely spoiled me.

Here are my chassis dyno results for reference.

CF dual friction, love it. Great manners no chatter, not grabby in the least truly feels like a stock clutch.
Have no doubt Im making at least the same power and never slips on drag radials which I run full time.

Steve... your going to have a hard time finding something better... I run the McLeod RTX twin disk. I run 525 RWHP on a 427 SBC... About 10,000 miles so far and still amazing..

DO NOT EVER RUN A POS CENTERFORCE DF CLUTCH. When someone explains how the weights magically re-seat for balance and defies physics... then I'm all ears... below is 2 pictures,,, one of the C.F DF... notice the weights..you thinks that's cool???? lol
and one of my RTX McCleod RTX

Last year when I was choosing a clutch for my build I ran a thread called "Clutch Recommendations".
Do a search and you can read a lot of good comments of clutches.
There were several very bad comments from members who used CenterForce clutches and the vibrations and issues associated with them.
I went with a McCleod.

I agree with Paul that there's no physical mechanism I can think of that will make those weights remove vibrations. A tech at CF told me they were mostly a sales gimmick and had a minor effect on clamping force, maybe 10%, which is what they are there for. I had a picture far worse than Paul's where the weights had gotten so far off balance that the ended up scraping the throwout bearing or something that cut a groove n the weights. I'll look for the picture..

That said, I've continued to use the CF light weight metal clutch and flywheel because .... it is light weight. After my disaster with the first clutch, I attributed the problem to my failure to install locating dowel pins and bought the clutch shown in this post

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ns-needed.html

The dowel pins, the pressure plate, and flywheel must all match and failure to do so could well cause problems. It's worked very well for me with weights installed, so I wouldn't automatically dis CF as selling an inferior ("POS") product. And the weights are easy enough to remove if you want. If you want to spend the bucks, buy the whole setup, no need to balance anything, it worked fine for me.

I took the weights off my CF clutch. I found no difference in clamping force. It took everything I could throw at it and no rattling or imbalance of the weights.
