UPDATE* UPDATE * UPDATE Dies only while turning right....
FINALLY figured out what was wrong with the ole Vette. This afternoon, I gapped and replaced all the spark plugs (the old ones were beyond hope), installed a new HEI MSD Distributor Cap, ignition coil and rotor. When I removed the old cap, at least ¼ cup of black carbon powder came out.so I imagined it was arcing like crazy inside the cap.
After all that, I fired her up and she came to life! After she warmed up, I slowly went down the driveway, turned right and SHE JUST KEPT GOING LIKE NORMAL! Drove down the street, no misses, no hesitations, just beautiful music of a 350/300hp (with Flowmasters Series 40 Exhaust) purring like a kitten. So, I went WOT (wide open throttle) and it threw me back in the seat and ran “like a bat outta hell!”
I’ve been driving her around ALL afternoon and she loves it!!! Left turns…right turns…WOT’s…. EVERYTHING IS OK!!! Can’t figure out why it was dying before, when I turned only right…GOT ME STUMPED BUT SHE’S WORKING GREAT NOW!!!
Awesome - thanks for the update. Always good to hear the end of the story! Sounds like you had a lot of crap in the distributor.
Yep! It was really "My Bad"...I used to do all the "tinkering" on the engine (tune-ups, oil changes, tinkering here & there, modifying & dressing the engine out, etc etc etc) The last time she had a tune up was about 3 years ago (gotten a little lazy). Oh, I change oil every 6 months like clockwork but as far as the mechanics of the engine...well, that's been lacking....NO MORE for sure! Gonna give the ole Girl a lot of LOVE again.....
