78 vette - so i have removed dash, race car thing going on, left all the wiring loom in tact, there are some conectors that used to connect to stuff in dash, not needed anymore, but front lights and wipers not working, rear lights, turn signals working, anyone have some guidance to what i might need to look at to get the front lights and wipers working??
If your '78 had pulse (interval) wipers they won't work without the control module (located in the center console ahead of the shifter) installed. Presuming the original wiper switch is still installed if the **** and shaft turn you have interval wipers. There's supposed to be a rounded arrow on the **** but it may be worn off. If you have the delay wipers do a little searching to find how to get them running with a simple jumper wire on one of the connectors. BTW if you do have the delay wipers AND your plastic wiper motor cover has a pink wire coming out of it AND the cover is in good condition AND you don't care if delay ever works, sell the cover as they're no longer made. The plain (no delay) covers are easy to get and cheap.
Your front lamp problem could easily be due to no ground. The front lamp harness handles all of the lighting. it runs from the firewall on the driver side near the brake booster along the driver side of the engine compartment. Originally it has three ground connections -- one at the alternator, another on the lower driver side of the radiator support and the last on the metal reinforcement on the underside of the "nose" just ahead of the hood--connection point in the center between the headlamp vacuum relays.
