SAM Tech (School of Automotive Machinists and Technology)
Sunday AM television ... saw a SAM Tech infomercial or was a feature on a boyracer show.
Showed many aspects of the school.
Of particular interest to me was a scene depicting a motor on engine dyno being readied for a pull. It was a GM LS motor with coils on VC.
A technician/mechanic poured what I assume was oil into an LS valve cover from a present-day white plastic one gallon Shell DIESEL Rotella bottle ...
... that bottle was either Rotella T1, T3, or T4 (all three are DIESEL non-synthetic). I'm quite familiar with each of those Rotella bottles.
Diesel oil is used in some very heavy duty applications so it makes sense that it would make a good gasoline engine oil.. I used to seek out oil that was "turbocharger" certified back when it was still the best available stuff.
Now I am looking for zinc to save my flat tappet cams. Latest Diesel certified oils have cut back on zinc but still good lube.
