Default 1969 Sparkplug Heat / ignition Shield Question

Can someone please provide a photo of the correct left hand front spark plug heat shield for a September 1969 small block? The car was missing this part along with the ignition shield that goes over it, so I dug into my leftover parts from previous cars but I’m having a hard time getting everything on and when I look up parts, I seem to see two different styles for heat shields, one with a flat top or one that has an inverted v shape to it in order fit over the temp sending unit. When I go to look up a picture of the ignition shield, I see that its not available anymore? I just want to make sure I have the correct parts, which I’m beginning to doubt. thanks!

Shield with round hole for temp gauge is first on driver side .

Remaining shields are flat for other areas.

Thanks for the pictures, but here’s the ignition shield that I am trying to use, which I believe is correct for a 9/69 350 engine. However, it doesn’t seem to fit over the heat shield that I thought was also correct, that has the hump in it to go over the temp sending unit, rather than the typical J type heat shield used on the other parts of the engine. I guess my question would be...is it ok to use a J type heat shield for this particular application, or do I need a different outer ignition shield? I’ve looked on line and even the various vendors have different “use” dates applied to these parts.

I realize this thread is a few years old, but after searching thru numerous threads, just wondering if anyone had an answer since I'm running into a similar issue. I don't see how the above chrome piece would fit when the plug heat shield is also installed over the temp sender for a small block '69.

From the diagram in the AIM, it isn't clear if the heat shield is actually installed. Thanks.

I had the same question a while back. I was told that the upper plug shields were for radio signal only. Being that I didn't have them to begin with and not really caring about an OEM look, I just left it without them, and have never had a problem. 327 HIPO.

I was told many years ago (by someone who’s opinion I highly respect AND had apparently done some research on this topic), that (for 1968-1970 cars) when the front ignition/radio shield was used on the front left spark plugs, that the spark plug heat shield was not used at that location. When the front ignition/radio shields were eliminated in mid-1970, the spark plug heat shields were used again at all four locations. I would imagine this would also be true for non-radio equipped 1968-1970 cars.

Thanks for the replies. Looking again at the AIM, it appears the heat shield might not be present.

Illustrations from the various online sources may simply be referencing the later years.
