Default Switch on door lock cylinder

Hey guys, does anyone know the best way to eliminate this switch so the power door locks still work?

Are you trying to eliminate the chrome switch or the switch on the back of the lock cylinder? they do very different things.

I'm trying to get the power door locks to work. There is power to the back of the lock cylinder but not the chrome switch. I jumped the lock actuators with direct power and they both work. There is power to the orange wire on the passenger side but no power on the driver side and I bought two new chrome switches. Not sure where to look next, any ideas? Thanks for your help!

did you buy vette specific lock switches? I had to replace the pig tail to my switches due to broken wires, have you checked the wires for connectivity? I also believe the lock circuit uses a common ground instead of individual grounds so they both either work or they dont.

On my 79, those 2 switches on the door lock cylinder are for the alarm system. I had a problem with my power locks not working either.
The connectors to the switches were corroded, and the ground wire for them which is located in the passenger door, needed cleaning. Then they both worked again.

Thanks I’ll try that, the connections are all good but I haven’t tried cleaning the ground yet

When I took mine apart, here’s what I found. If I remember correctly, the blue wire carries 12 v between both door contacts. I replaced both of my contacts. This is the config for 1982. Yours looks a bit different but I suspect a broken wire

Thanks for the info. I checked the ground and the wires on the switches are good. I saw on a diagram another component under the dash or center console related to the locks but haven’t been able to chase it down any idea where it may be? On the 78 model it has a blue and a grey wire on either side.
