Default Can this be adjusted?

I got my ac all charged up on my 81, and it’s cool but seems like it could be cooler, and wondered if this might be affecting it. In this picture I took you can see the temp control is not all the way to the left. You can push it the rest of the way, and it goes back to where it is now. I know in my truck if you move it off full cold it’s not near as cold, so wondered if this was the same.
Is there a way to adjust it, and if so will it help?

if it is allowing heater core heat to mix with refrigerated air from AC, it could do that. put shutoffs in both heater hoses to keep that much more engine heat out of pass compartment.

The cable that it is attached to is adjustable. There is a turnbuckle on the cable behind the passenger side panel on the console.

Yep, what bruiser said. There is an adjustment on the cable. Also if you want to completely shut off the water on both hoses, use this valve. It shuts off both water hoses and has the correct 3/4" and 5/8" connections.

I’ll be getting that shut off very soon then.
I know yesterday after I drove it the heater hose coming off the intake was really really hot like it should have been, but the hose on the other side of that diaphragm on the passenger side was not nearly as hot. Does that mean it’s doing it’s job or is it better to just put shut offs on both hoses?

and also, is adjusting that turnbuckle going to do anything besides move the slider?
reason I ask is like in my car I drive to work, it can be all the way in the blue as far as it can go and it’s freezing cold, and I move it slightly away from that setting and it’s not near as cold. So I’m wondering if by me moving the slider more to the left will work in the opposite effect and give mine more cold air. If this even makes sense. Lol

Default Valve

The other nice thing about the valve I listed above is that it has a bypass which allows water to circulate between the intake and the water pump.

Yes. Just connect the same vacuum line to it that runs the valve currently in the car.
