there was a setup for sale in the parts section. they usually sell pretty cheap. you can swap everything in pretty easily
you need
a power steering pitman arm
reservoir
engine bracket
hoses
slave cyinder
power steering relay rod
crank pulley for power steering and belt
you can use the same steering box which is good because its 68 only due to the splines and rag joint. You can go with a borgeson box but you dont need it if you set up your system correctly. the tie rod ends will go in the hole closer to the kingpin which will give you a more responsive system too
I converted my 68 ages in 1991. I just bought a kit and put it together (I can look up where from if you really need to know, but there isn't anything terribly special, just stock PS parts replacement).
It's been quite nice. In those 28 years (WTF?) I had to replace 1 hose once.... I screwed up and torqued on it and damaged the PS reservoir, so I just ordered a new PS Pump from Autozone. Other than that I have not had any leaks nor other problems.... HOWEVER - if I was to do it today, then I would probably do the Borgensen(?) conversion----search for that conversion this forum, lots of folks have done it.
PS- I had to get different pulley for my L-79, the one that came with the kit wasn't right.

I also have a L79. The Borgeson conversion looks very simple. So all the hydraulics are in the steering box? You use the original pitman arm and linkages ETC? I see now. The kit doesnt come with the pump. I guess it's a conversion for a car that already has PS.
Thank you. I found the complete kit... About $900, not bad.
This is a good time to consider other options regarding the power steering system as a whole.
I purchased the Borgeson steering box and just purchased a Tuff Stuff, type II, power steering pump, bracket, billet pulley and a remote reservoir for my 73.
The cost was a little more but I like the new type II pumps as they cut down on the clutter on the front of the block and the remote reservoir will allow some cooling to the fluid.
On my big block the OEM Saginaw type pump sits directly under the alternator and checking the fluid is tricky.
With the remote reservoir there will be no more hassle or dripping fluid.
