All the metal line were sweating like crazy if that helps any. That compressor you linked to doesn't say it will fit a corvette.
Your right it doesn’t, this one does.

When you say all the metal lines were sweating were the metal lines form the compressor to the condenser sweating?

Neal
Neal, I know the metal part of the manifold hose right at the compressor (Low Side) going to the VIR Eliminator was sweating but I'm not a 100% sure on the manifold line going to the condenser I'll check again tomorrow evening to be sure. I'm not sure about the small high pressure metal line coming from the condenser either. The car ran with the air on for at least 30 mins while i was charging it and the noise wasn't constant but every couple of mins it would start and then go away. I never could get the high pressure side to get anywhere close to where it should have been. Also I just noticed tonight that I have a leak at the oil line fitting from the evaporator to the vir eliminator office valve. The oil line just gets blocked off there in the side of the office valve block and its slowly leaking around the threads I can see dye and oil there and even a slow bubble tonight.

How did you charge the system?

Did you turn the cans upside down? Where is the service port located you used to charge the system? How fast did you allow the refrigerant to enter the system?

Do you remember what the suction pressure and discharge pressure was after the first and second cans?

I charged the system with a set of gauges. I started charging with the car off and let the 134a suck into the low and high side a little ( I think? I was torn on whether or not to put any into the high side at all) then I closed the high side off started the car and let it suck the rest of the 1st can and 2 more in while raising the RPMs to around 2000. The 1st can got really cold and frosted over a little. My red high pressure line from the gauges fell onto the exhaust manifold and started smoking a little but it doesn't appear to be damaged (don't know if that could have caused the can to frost over or not?) I did turn the cans over and even shook em some to make sure I didn't see anymore going through the sight glass before switching the cans out (still a small amount escaped through the old puncher style cans when I removed each one). The service ports I used to service it are located on the manifold hose at the compressor (low Side) and the high side is located at the vir eliminator under the fender behind the wheel. I let the refrigerant go in as fast as it would take it. I do not remember what the discharge pressure was after the 1st and 2nd cans I knew I had a small leak so I was mainly trying to just get the refrigerant and dye into the system to trace down the leak and was mainly glancing at the high pressure to be sure it didn't get to high. I did try to tightening the leaking oil line the other night and it got a lot worse so I think I might have stripped it so I just walked away at that point and left it to leak down. I had a lot of trouble trying to get that oil line started without cross threading it to begin with. I'm at least $386 into this after buying parts and the gauges and still no air and looking like I need to buy a compressor and maybe an evaporator depending on whether or not I stripped the oil line. I might get back under the hood in the next couple days but I had to just walk away from it for a day or two.
