Default Ls swap oil pans

Well it's time to retire the Gen 1 sbc in favor of a built LQ 9. For those who have done this what oil pan have you used.? I have a Batwing from a 04 ZO 6 that was a gift. I am just finishing the long block buidup so all options are out there. The truck pan is way too low to even consider at this point. It will have a TKO 600 etc on the backside and a re-geared diff.

Fbody pan on my LS3 as well. Fits great. Essentially the same envelope as the stock SBC pan.I think the batwing would fit though... mmmaybe headers wouldn't clear but I don't think so.

Did you fab your own headers or did a production set fit? Also I'm set up for mechanical clutch linkage with a Quik Time bellhousing.

ARH headers and mechanical clutch are incompatible.

Well , since the chassis and body are separated IT.S BREAK OUT THE TIG welder and start fabbing up some 304ss headers. I'll probably be using Magnaflow.s builders kit. This is not the first time I've had to custom build a set. Thanks guys for your input . Steve.

02 Batwing with the 02 vette exhaust m manifolds. I think the batwing limits your exhaust manifold selection, but the 02 manifolds flow very well, fit the vette frame and allow for z bar attachment.

Really? I went with the batwing and the "LS6" stock manifold and the manifold is all in the way. Could it be that it's because my LS is all the way backward to accomodate the T5 (T56/LS combo seat further to the front). I any case I'd love learn where is got my math wrong, I miss the mechanical linkage.

See post 6 here:

That was with 1" setback plates, I ended up moving the engine forward using the standard adapter plates. Plenty of room for the Z bar between the manifold and O2 sensor.

The LS3 crate motor in the stock position drops right in, and with a little bit of finagling, the mechanical clutch linkage can also be accommodated.

up.
