Door latch replacement tips need
The drivers door on my '77 wouldn't open and with reading posts here was able to unlock it and remove the latch. I've tried putting the new one in but having trouble hooking up the rod from the outside door handle. Are there any tips/tricks to make it easier to install?

I had to remove mine on my 73 convertible. Take a really bright flashlight and place it inside the door so that you have the area lit up really good. I left the lock unit hanging inside the door so that I could attach the various rods. Had a teatime setting the key lock in the correct position (so key would come out). After more spending more than I will admit, I pulled the other door card off to get a reference on the correct lock setting. Once I had all rods attached, I installed the screws to hold in the lock. Also I added a healthy amount of synthetic super lube. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I was able to install it. I had left the passenger side door panel off as it was helpful when I had to get the drivers door to open. I found it was easier to attach the rod from the outside door handle first ,with the help of two long needle nose plyers one straight and one with a 90 degree bend. then the stud that goes into the door lock bracket. the other two rods and as you said the 3 screws last. The bright light was a big help in seeing everythings orientation.

Glad to hear you were able to get the lock installed. Be sure and get some grease on the moving parts and the lock itself. When the door / window get wet, water will be all over those parts, even with a new vapor barrier installed.
