Default Plastic oil tube help

Detailing engine and accidentally pulled out the white plastic oil Gauge tube at back of engine next to distributor. What do I do now ( after I finally get done cleaning oil off of literally everything .) What holds this line in ? Is it a compression type fitting like in plumbing ? Is there a tiny ferrel like thing supposed to be on this plastic tube under the nut ? Any ideas where I can buy this piece if I am right about what we need.

Was hoping to use car this weekend.

I hate that cheap, brittle, white plastic lines for oil press. Let me take that back. When new, right out of the box, its not brittle. But after a couple years in a C3 engine bay AKA pizza oven, those plastic lines are a accident, waiting to spray you.

Nothing but strong copper lines for me. But what a job getting at the back of the gauge, right?

You need a new 1/8” ferrule. A good auto parts store should have them.

If you can’t find one the block is probably 1/8 npt. I’m not 100% sure on that.

You can get the old one out by simply removing the entire fitting from the back of the block.
You won't be able to reuse the old one and you won't find a proper replacement at the parts store.
Those original oil lines have a tapered Ferrell that comes pre-installed on the special oil line (it's not the parts store white plastic line).
This is why those with original lines seldom have issues.
Part store white vinyl line kits age poorly, become brittle and break. The part store ferrell can allow the white line to pull out.
I suggest you order a new OEM oil line.

you may have actually broken the old line off ... which may've been a blessing in disguise ... Replace the plastic line.

Default Update

Realized wasn’t getting the old ferrule out of old fitting after a little tinkering. Was able to find a copper tubing kit at Napa that came with exact same fittings in back of block. Installed the new Ferrule on my oem oil line and taped up new identical fitting and so far working perfectly.

Thanks for all all the help always appreciated !!!
