I'm pulling my 327 today with the super T10 4 speed attached. I've got the 2 ton harbor freight hoist with leveler already attached with grade 8 bolts and washers. My question is, coming in from the side, do I need to set the hoist to 1 ton or 1/2 ton, if I'm pulling them both at the same time. If I set it to 1 ton, does it have enough reach?
I have the same engine hoist from HF and when I put in the 427 with the Muncie attached, it was set at 1/2 ton. I did it from the driver side with the wheel removed. Setting your hoist at 1/2 ton for your SB will be fine.

A fully dressed small block is under 500lbs and the tranny is less than a hundred. I know, l can lift the tranny. maybe 180 with the bellhousing, clutch and flywheel
Are you using an engine tilter, it will help alot. Did you remove your hood and the radiator, it will save you some anxiety.

I have a tilter and have removed the hood and rad as well as the front accessories.

I did it the same way. Put the trannie in first, seemed easier.
