72 vette rear caliper leaking
Hi all and thanks in advance for your wisdom.
Problem:
72 Vette rear caliper is leaking where the 2 halves meet. Tried everything I know to correct short of a gasket.
Any advice?

Did you have it apart? Why? Did you put the packing in at the fluid passage location between the halves? Did you reuse the old one? Did you look at it to be sure it was still usable?

There is no gasket other than an O-ring. Pull it apart and clean the surfaces with denatured alcohol. Put a new O-ring in coated in brake fluid and.assemble the caliper halfs. Put the caliper on the car and torque the caliper half per specification. It is easier to torque the halfs when the caliper is on the car. If you have brake fluid on the back of the brake pads, new seals and dust boots are in the cards for you. Jerry
