This morning two motorcyclists wrecked into the side of Dwayne's (DesertDawg) parked 1982 CE.
Apparently one of the motorcyclist just bought his bike yesterday (the blue one) and was out riding with his buddy. First time out on the bike, out of state driver's license, not motorcycle endorsement on the license.
Anyway, the rookie dropped the clutch too soon trying to go around the corner of the intersection that Dwayne lives at and got into the other bike. They then both went into the side of Dwayne's pristine, previously perfect condition 1982 Collectors Edition.

The rookie was also taken by the local police down to the station for DUI testing and blew a .158 on the drunk-o-meter. Arizona has a .08 limit, and at some point, maybe .1 or .12 ish, they have what is called "extreme drunken driving" where the penalties are mandatory and judges can't lower the mandatory jail time, loss of drivers license and fines. This guy most likely will fall in that group. I hope !! :mad








They tore a huge hole in the right rear quarter panel, from the seam of the rear bumper cover to the wheel well. The other bike went into the door and put some massive scratches in the door and totally mangled the passenger side rocker panel.

More details to follow, and I am sure Dwayne will post once he is back from work.

Oh man that totally sucks,I bet hes pissed.Its one thing if hes a new rider but drunk too,that makes it worse. :mad

The "experienced" rider has insurance, but the rookie did not have the bike added to his policy yet. Supposedly he has insurance, and state law says you are covered for the first 30 days even if you don't have it added. He didn't have it covered yet as he bought it yesterday, saturday, and the insurance company probably was not even open.
Kind of common down here for that to occur.

 

Damn thats THREE this weekend. My sympathies DesertDawg hope it turns out OK.

His wife, the real owner of the car, was the one that called me. She asked if I would come down there and help me kick the "crap" out of two bikers that just wrecked into the car. I thought Dwayne had gotten into a fight he could not win, but later found out they were so small that Dwayne had to help them pick up the bikes.
And I don't think they would start anything against him as he is a pretty big dude.
I didn't go, they wouldn't let me bring the Glock. :nonod:

AWWW... Man... that totally blows. So sorry to hear this Dawg Man. Guys like that deserve to be dragged around the desert over cactus, tied to the back of his car once it's repaired......

That is terrible news. I would guess that duplicating the original CE paint theme will be difficult. He had the paint looking really good after the clay bar / wax treatment.

The real fun of this is that they do not make the side stripe kits for the CE's any more. And the ones on Dwayne's cars aren't stickers, they are painted on !!
