Default Transmission Trouble

Have 77 Corvette with automatic tranny. It is leaking on the drivers side halfway up the side. There is a small green cap on a little stud that sticks out. That is where it is leaking from. What does this mean?

I have a 77, but I don't know what you are talking about with respect to a small green stud on the driver side. The driver side has the shifting shaft. Sometimes they leak there on the driver side. Maybe someone else knows what you are talking about.

The only thing I can think of without looking at one would be your shifter linkage arm. It has a threaded stud so a nut can hold your linkage in place. As for the cap, it sounds like a protective device for your threads. If it is the linkage, then there is a o ring seal in there that can leak. A tranny shop should look at this for no charge and tell you for sure.
