Default Competition Plus Shifter stick height

I just installed this shifter but the stick height is a tad high for my liking. Has anyone changed their stick to something lower in length and if so, which one?

Mike, I changed my Hurst shift lever out for this one.

4-SPEED HURST® SHIFTER HANDLE
Paragon Number: 13404K
4 Speed Hurst® shifter handle w/black chrome ****. This round original design shifter is identical in appearance to the original and designed to bolt on Hurst® Competition Plus® Shifters to replace the flat Hurst® handle. Now you can convert your non-original shifter back to its stock appearance at a fraction of the cost of a complete shifter assembly and retain the crisp positive shifts of your Hurst®. This handle has a beautiful chrome finish and includes "T" handle and ****. Use with Hurst® shifter having serrated lever. Ask for technical assistance before purchasing if unsure.

Years 1977 - 1981
Price $89

I'm not sure of the exact length, but it is the same height as the factory shifter and only slightly shorter than the Hurst handle was that I replaced.

Good luck... GUSTO

I've always just cut the stick to the height I wanted it, then just drilled new mounting holes. On another setup I cut the stick and welded a short lateral piece right above the mounting hole section to help center the stick in the console boot.

I had one on another corvette it worked good. I think I put the Hurst lever back on it.

Thanks for the input, lads. I have a T-handle on the stick just to try something different for now. Not sure I want to cut it but that may be easiest and definitely a cheaper option. Hurst has a replacement stick 6" long with a 10* bend at the top of the stick. It would have a much shorter throw but I'm thinking this may be too short? I'm going to get a paint stick and fabricate a mock stick to check for a 6" fit.

I have the same stick that Gusto has on my Hurst shifter. It's the perfect height.

It's a nice stick for those that like it to look stock but I have a T-handle and will keep that for the near future. The Hurst stick is just over 10" in overall length. I think the 7" replacement stick may be just about right for me.

If you look at the different C3 year handles the later models are shorter. That's what I used.

I don't have a really great picture, but I'm thinking the stick on mine is about 7 inches..

Ok, so I'm back from a road trip which took me as far as Toledo. Dropped by Summit Racing and picked up a Hurst 6" long stick that I installed today. First pic is 3rd gear position and then 4th gear. I also picked up a 7" stick which I may install if this one is not to my liking.

It's now a short throw shifter for sure but the stock supplied stick at just over 10" was too long, for me anyway. It may look too short but it works fine. Not sure the added 1" to a 7" stick would make much difference except increase the throw.
