Default Spark Plug Wire Routing Question

I was under my car the other day and discovered that it appears that I have some very old spark plugs and probably the original spark plug wires in my car. I'm looking at replacing both the plugs and wires and wanted opinions on the routing of the wires. I really don't want to fight the original routing route if I don't have to but I'm worried about burning the wires if I try to go over the valve covers. Are good wire looms necessary in preventing wire burning or are there other factors involved. Also, in purchasing the wires (I'm looking at MSD's), I have discovered that you can get "original routing" length and "non-original routing" length. If I go over the valve cover, it seems logical to get the "non-original routing" length. What is everyone elses opinion? Thanks in advance.

I don't know one from another, but if you go original, can you tie a string on the spark plug end, pull it out from distributor on top, and then tie on new one to pull back thru? All just a guess, Not worth .02 cents, just what I was thinking I would try when I have to do mine.

I would stay with the original routing. Appears that they have lasted for 22 years. So do it original and not fool with it for another 22 years.

The original length routing are longer then the non-original.
