Default 454 Block prep question

Hey guys. I have the block pretty much prepped ready to go to the machine shop. Here is a list of what I have done.
1. removed freeze plugs and galley plugs.
2. Degreased and pressure washed the block including water jackets.
3. Deburred and smoothed water jackets.
4. Ground smooth the walls of the lifter valley. (Anybody else do this?)
5. Deburred and beveled the oil drains in the center of the lifter valley. (Also anybody do this?)
6. Rounded and smoothed all sharp edges in lifter valley.

Anything I missed? Suggestions on what I have done?

Greetings,

Sounds like exactly what I had done! You are right...most people don't deburr, but it's a great idea to.

Throw it in the truck and take it to the machine shop..LOL

Sounds like you and I are on the same track.

Mine's off to the machine shop for a check (it was supposedly previously machined) next week hopefully.

I just did most of that a couple weeks ago before taking mine to the machine shop. I'm going to clean out the galleys when I get it back, then spray paint the inside of the lifter valley white. Think I will also spray paint the underside of the intak manifold white too. Should get the block back tomorrow or Thursday, and hopefully my balanced crank, pinstons, and rods on Friday for assembly on Saturday. :)

Thanks for the replies guys. Yellow73BB what piston, rod and crank combo are you going with? 3/8, 7/16, cast crank, steele etc. Thanks

Keith Black 273 hypereutectic pistons (10.3:1), standard (original) rods and cheap steel Scat 9000 crank. Engine is bored .040 over now (was .030 over). I also have oversize SS valves and ported/polished (did it myself :) ) heads.
