I have a 76 coupe with the 350 and on the way home last night the amp meter just stopped working. I know it has a fusible link in the wiring somewhere but i have no idea where to start looking for it. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance

I would pull the meter and check voltage at the wires coming in respect to ground, not each other. They should both show voltage which will give you the wire to look at. Most likely the gauge itself failed. Then replace it with a volt gauge. I for one resistd that for 4 years before I finally gave in and wwish i changed it earlier. Its a better tool for trouble shooting alternator or battery issues
While i can appreciate the upgrade to a volt meter over the amp meter I would like to start the wiring battle with the easy stuff first like fuses and fusible links. Due to my wiring harness being wrapped from start to finish the location of the fusible link is what I am looking for as it is located on the firewall behind the distributor or where ever. Thanks for the suggestion but removing the gauge cluster will be my last option.
I have not driven the car since I got it home and I have a disconnect switch on the battery so I think I am good until I can get back under the hood. Thanks
