Yup, new belt even tried that spray that NAPA sells for squealling belts, the belt has about 1/2" play in it. I may do a better job of the spray again. I can hear the squeal at low r.p.m"s At 55mph I"m turning 3000 or better rpm"s, so the engine is singing loud & proud, cannot here anything else!
I found that the belt grease never permanently solves the problem and may be damaging your belts. Go to a big sports store. Go the the baseball section. Buy a stick of batters rosin. Put the rosin on the belts. That will last longer than the belt grease.
Did you remove your original Alternator bracket.....and use a Chrome one?..I did and it would would bend (CHEAP AZZ PEP BOYS PART) when I reved it about 3500k......I bought an original part from the chevy dealer and problem solved
I posted this same topic on Sunday but was unable to read any of the replies because of forum problems! :cuss My "68" squeals bad at around 3200 rpm. Tried dressings, new gates belt, alignment and tension. Nothing! New belt worked for about a day and then right back squealing. It's driving me nuts! Any other ideas or suggestions?
