Need a longer pilot on mine, anyone know of a place I can send this out to?
Otherwise I have to make 1/4" spacers for all my brackets. thanks to a shops blunder many yrs ago I have no pilot sticking out to center a mechanical fan.
Know of any places that rebuild pumps or may be capable of doing this? Pump itself is fine...had it with electric fans unless its a secondary i doubt/dont caer if theres a few imaginary hp loss I want this gauge to stay steady period.
Can get a press I suppose but never rebuilt a pump...and have no idea what to look for as far as parts suppliers if you know of something post up. Thanks.
It's Not difficult to rebuild or replace spindle-shaft & bearing & seal ... but ...
As you have neither press or experience doing this job ...
... suggest, after all, it'll be cheaper to buy another pump or pay someone to modify yours.
Also ... don't know if this will help your issues but ... spacers are available to fit between your pump's two legs & block's water ports ...
... 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 thick __ $14-$21 ************** these will move entire pump forward.
FWIW ... most pump's fan hubs can be re-located on shaft, forward or aft ... most are a press-fit only BUT some are press AND have set screw in tandem.
e.g. perhaps you could move pump forward w/ spacer But then slide hub aft ... effectively extending pilot.
I googled classic car water pump rebuilders and found several near me. 2000 miles from you, but there are still people doing this. Might be worth trying to see what is near you.
