75 coupe - just pulled rear suspension out (t-arms, spring, half shafts, etc.)
Anyway, there was a shield that covered the differential - it was over the spring plate - thin metal that for lack of another way to describe it, is like a splash shield or something. Holes in it allowed the spring plate and bolts to mount the spring, then this shield clipped onto the plate and was held in place with two self tapping bolts.
I don't see it in the assembly manual and I'm curious what it is - if anyone knows.
I cleaned it up a bit - here is a picture of the bottom (what would face the road).
