Those say cast in USA I wonder whos they are? Looks like a bare price
Some of his econo heads are based on china castings. Not that is bad lots are doing it now
When I look at the flow numbers from Brodix and AFR I see that the AFR 180 heads flow better than Brodix 200 heads. Could be conditions in which the manufacturer measures them, but I am assuming that both provide the most optimal conditions to come up with these numbers. The 195 heads far outpace the brodix 200's.
Not sure what the price point difference is on these two heads or the quality comparison.
Sure they are all Ok, 250-260 out of a 180 head isnt bad..not sure how much room Brodix has to imrove, the Darts do which is a plus. AFRs not so much.
AFR makes a nice 190 vortec head you almost never see anyone build on .

They are only "Profiler" heads , but not anyone else's. Price-out the options given in the pull-down menus and you will get the total in the cart. These heads were designed by Darin Morgan of Reher & Morrison Pro Stock fame.
I used RHS 23* 200cc w 72cc Chambers on mine. I chose those as they were recommended by my machine shop, the flow numbers are as good as any and the price was right. Bought em stuffed and bolted them right on with no worries. This was before Comp bought them out however soI'm not sure if anything has changed.
I've posted this a few times...but it's a 400" using Dart as cast 200 cc heads. These are the old design ones..not the newer Platinum versions with all the wet flow work. This used a 248* SR cam and was tested with a Dart air gap style dual plane, a Weiand single plane using a Holley Street HP 750 and a reworked 283/270 2x4 set up with WCFB carbs. The shortblock was a Dart crate motor deal and I didn't touch the heads at all (NOT my normal way of doing things LOL).

Yep! Even though I like my AFR heads...now, when I got them right out of the box and checked the run-out, they were OFF, by a lot and NOT very happy. I should have sent them back, but was in a time crunch and just sucked it up and had them redone. They are good now.
So I guess the assembly quality does vary somewhat. Maybe I got lucky. How long ago did you get yours?
My AFR 195s are only 9-10 months old now. 850ish miles on the motor.
how much room for improvement would a Dart pro-1 180cc head have?
Could they be made to flow as well as a CNC AFR 195cc?
Wouldnt be worth your time...can they maybe in the right hands but youll spend a grand or so trying.
Did it with a set of china Dart copies they far surpass the afrs. It was only worth it as I did them so no money out of pocket. Having a good parts connection and a friendly flow bench guy is a plus.
Afr are the only ones who have the nice 8mm valves and other nice features, lifetime warranty etc.
Being poured next day or so,198 before hand..I usually never remove more than literally a few on anything I do. That whole "hogging out"mentality was 1970s thinking
Id be shocked if they were 210

Sounds like good gains then with minimal material removal. Do you have any before and after flow numbers?
