73 hood emblems

73 hood emblems

Picked up a Factory Assembly Manual today and upon looking through it I have a question. Should my 1973 L48 have hood emblems on both sides? I believe my hood is original but shows no sign of ever having any mounting holes for L48 emblems. Perhaps they were affixed with adhesive or never even on a 73?

Corvettes never came with L-48 emblems from the factory. Only L-82. The L-48 emblems you see are all after market.

The emblem was factory standard for 454 models. However, the L48 emblem is available from most forum vendors. PO had installed the L48 emblem on my hood. It is mounted with doubled sided tape.

thanks for the prompt replies guys. Finally, a little trim part detail I don’t need to buy! I guess I wouldn’t want to advertise the car is a slug anyway. But the L48 badges could also make the car a stealthy sleeper. It’s certainly no rocket sled but it’s got a lot more pep than any stock L48 ever had.
