I got my vette back in June of this year and when I got the car, the radio in the car worked. For about 5 seconds. Then the letters on the screen faded and I haven’t been able to turn it on ever since then. I replaced the fuse and it still hasn’t worked. Well earlier today I was fiddling with the Air conditioning slider testing to see why I wasn't getting any air pressure on the upper vents and very little on the defroster (May post about that later) and I noticed that the screen was flickering only when I moved the top slider back and forth. I tried to see if there was one spot that will maybe allow it to power on. But to no avail.
My question is:
Does/could the climate control affect the radio and if it gets power or not?
I don't see in wiring where the ac would affect this unless it is the famous grounds? The wiper and radio fuses are on same circuit. Did you look underneath to see if the ac slider is touching anything? Get out a meter or test light and see if you have power and ground at the radio

I wonder if it's the constant power wire instead. When I was reinstalling the radio in the 81, i found that the constant power wires (the ones that are hard-wired into the stereo) were a little lose. if I bumped them the radio would go off and on. I'm not real proud of myself for my solution (I taped them to the other harness, keeping them from bouncing) but it works for the time being. I wonder since the radio is immediately above the AC controls if you're not jostling this wire bundle when you move the controls back and forth.
Just a thought.
So after fiddling with the radio and checking th fuse one last time I noticed that this fuse was pretty worn. It says “power accessory” and I was wondering if this could be affecting the radio working. All of the other things such as the wind shield wipers work.
If it doesn’t have anything to do with the radio should I still replace this?
Fuses are cheap. Replace it. There appears to be some corrosion on fuse box. You could buy some contact cleaner and pull fuse for radio and wipers and spray the metal contacts and reinsert fuse.

That is for the Cruise Control power to On/Off switch and Resume. Should have nothing to do with the radio.
