Installing new kit ( Master-Booster) in my 68 cause had a close call this summer braking without brake booster,,,,,Installed a kit from Pirate in north carolina and the brakes lock up with expansion.....New brake light switch pushing down pedal a bit....which is a cylindrical looking thing like a spark plug,,,problem is i think pedal is not returning 100 percent,,,,,,I shortened the rod the best i could to give it some free-play...which is about 1/2 inch to an inch.....Thinking about taking it around 6-7 mile loop drive and taking BL switch off to see if the brakes start draging or lock up again..Any and all ideas will be appreciated....
You refer to two kits in your post. The first one I assume is the brake master and brake booster. You than refer to a "Kit" from Pirate.
What kit and who is Pirate? Is that the master and booster?
Was the master and booster adjusted for proper clearance between the booster rod and the master piston?
Might have a broken spring in the pedal assembly. I am not really clear on what the problem is besides the pedal returning? Additionally, what did you adjust?
Thankyou for your help got tied up helping a friend move...thats correct pirate jack,,,turns out the m/c was for drum/disc only....to resolve my problem i adjusted out the rod (shortened) ....then added two flat washers between m/c and booster...adjusted up brake light switch and for now seems to be working properly..if i travel a long distance i will bring two more washers and proper wrench.....thanks

You cannt use a drum brake rear master on a 4 wheel disc brake car. The drum brake master has a residual pressure valve in the rear drum brake port that prevents fluid from fully returning when you release the pedal. Install the correct master before you either damage the rear rotors or have an accident because of rear wheel lockup.
