Default Power brakes, conversion

I am thinking about converting to power brakes, on a 1970 corvette. I saw the corvette magazine article and was wondering just how hard of a job is it to get up under the dash to remove brake bracket or should the dash be removed?

I've done it twice. I removed the dash and steering column and then its easy to get to all of the bolts. Nothing complicated, just time consuming. Also I bought the booster & master cylinder combo from Jegs when it was on sale,, works a heck of a lot better than manual brakes. Good luck.

I did this recently here:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...onversion.html

I thought it was a cake-walk.

The only thing I need to go back and tweak it the yoke from the booster input shaft. I need to do some mild fabrication to ensure it comes out a bit further to get a full stroke. The booster input shaft had too little adjustment to work with.

Also, make sure to get the clearance right between booster output and master cylinder; the below tool was very handy.

Beyond that, I am very pleased with the results.

I also bled the circuit a couple more times at a few days' interval.

Stick with manual brakes and upgrade the brake pads instead. (from an owner of a power brake car)

I did it just removing the steering wheel and the driver seat. I would start there before pulling the dash

Thank you, Sir
I have the steering wheel off and that seat is out. I was putting the car back together after a frame off restoration. I thought i was going to keep the brakes manual but i wanted to know how hard it would be to go with power brakes.

One thing you might check. My brakes weren't worth a isht. Started checking it out. I had a 1 1/8 inch bore master cylinder. Changed it to the 1 inch as it should be. Made a huge difference. The Borgeson power steering made the most difference in my manual car. WOW!

I see you have an XKE. I had one,,,,, LOVED it.

When I converted from power to manual (Cam not happy with vacuum at idle so I converted) I did it all without pulling the dash or steering wheel.
It just takes a bit of patience and a thesaurus for a few extra swear words at times.
Totally doable though.

Now i am a little scared, cause it seems like every part i have bought new has been difficult to put back on the car. I don't know if it would be worth it? Right now would be the best time because the windshield has not been installed and i think if i remove the dash panel ( real fun getting out and in, it needs two people) it might be a bit easier to install ?

Certainly easier with those out. Yes.
But not completely required. It was not the hardest thing I have done on the car but it is not something you want to rush through.
You will need a new plunger for the master cyl as well because you move the connection down to the lower hole.
