It’s a 76. It seems to be starting in gear for some reason. Thought this switch may have had something to do with it. Transmission fluid is pouring out the dipstick too. From what I’ve researched today it could be a clogged breather hole??? Does this make any since?
On a '79 the neutral safety switch is in the shifter, probably the same on yours. The TH350 doesn't have a breather, are you sure it's not overfilled?
I drained some out. Did not drain it all bc it did not do that until I trailered it home and went to take if off the trailer. I guess I’ll drain all the fluid and start over. What do you think?
The transmission issue is fixed. There is a vent tube at the top of the bell housing drivers side. I took a piece of rubber hose, attached it to the end of my air hose tool and shot air into it. Problem solved! Thank you for your insight. Next project is to install the ejection seat for the switch!
How far is “does not move far”? Rocking back and forth an inch or so isn’t a big deal. More means that you may not be fully in Park.
it does not go far at all as far as I can tell. I have wheel chocks all around it. I’ve been replacing all the brake lines and calipers, so I don’t want it to move on me. Lol. I try to crank it every day to let it run, but since it started acting like it was starting in gear I haven’t done it as much. I read the manual that it may be a linkage causing it to not be in park. I’m going to climb under it and try to adjust that. The shift lever won’t go forward to the park position any further bc it is as far as the console will let it go. Any thought on this?
