As stated previously I bought anon running L82 1979 Vette. I finished the engine assembly
and went to preoil. I can’t remember what I forgot to get but I put a new sending unit
right above the oil filter and not sure what goes in the threaded hole next to the distributor
Is it a plug or another sensor. Other cars I have done had a brass fitting with a sensor for oil gauge I
think
Two questions,1. Does it matter which location you use and just curious, why. Thanks. The machinist must have removed the plug from the top because when I tore it down the sensor was above the filter.

The wiring harness won’t reach if you mount the sender above the filter. Honestly don’t know if the oil pressure would read any differently. Kind of doubt it.
Oops, replying at the same time as ‘75. At least we agree on both points
