Default Rear tire size for C3

Presently running a 255-60-15 Bf goodrich tires on my 73 in rear...

Have a 3:70 ratio with a 4 speed....Looking to go with a taller tire to cut down RPM on highway..Have 15X8 inch rims....

Don't want a 5 speed or the hassle of finding one and installing....Figure maybe a 275-70-15 ? Do they even make this size ? Will that fit ? 70's are a taller tire than the 60 series .... If so,who has them..?

I am thinking the same thing for my next rear skins. Not only because of the 4:11s but for appearance too.
295s might be too big?

Snoop around on Summit Racing. Under "tires" > passenger, click on 15" rims and see what pops up.

I don't see any benefit by reducing the rpm by 100 or so. What are you expecting?

I think what we are both getting at, if you need new rear skins, get bigger.
26" 27" 28" it all adds up a little.

3:70 is a great street gear...Will need new rubber sooner or later.....I think, I have to check again , the 70 series are 2 inches more in diameter...Should be good for 200-250 rpm less..

Google. Tacoma world tire calculator. It will give you tire dia. Sidewall height, circumference, how many revolutions per mile and compare it to your current tire.
a 255/60 15 is 27.05 dia. A 265/70 15 is 29.61 dia. As one example. It even shows the tires side by side for comparison as to how they would look. On an 8 inch rim your 255 has it maxed out on width it should use.

Yes, in the 60 series its only really one inch or just a little more....265-70-15 I think, have to check I believe is just a hair over 2 inches...

Will save 200-220 rpm on highway....Nothing major but its something..
