Emergency Brake cable "mickey mouse" clips do not hold
I have done a complete rebuild (among other things) of the emergency brake subsystem on my 79 L82 but it turns out that the e-brake does not work -. going through the trouble shooting procedure I realized that the e-brake levers on one wheel would not move at all and on the other wheel barely moved. It turns out that the brand new clips that supposed to hold the brake cable together just pop - they do not have the holding power. All the parts were purchased from a well known online Corvette parts dealer.
Question is whether I got a batch of bad clips, is this a known weakness in the system and whether there is a better solution out there? I just took a video and will post it next
Of the 4 brackets that hold the parking brake cable in place (2 on each side) only 1 works. It is the only one that seems to have a completely flat surface - all the other brackets are slightly bend and they do not provide a flat surface for the cable and the brake cable clips to mate properly allowing, therefore, for movement... it looks like replacement brackets are available - two of them I would have to cut off and have the new ones welded on...
I ground the sides of the clips down a little on the replacement ones I bought and they fit into the groove and hold tight, before that when the T/A moved it would pop one side out

Today I had the same problem reinstalling the mickey mouse clips, they just popped off or caught on one side just waiting to pop off, so I need a solution too!
I could use a photo or description of how the parking brake cable looks installed from on the end with the ball to where the spring goes and where the rubber goes.

Thank M,
That is exactly the information I needed to reassemble the parking brake.
Only working on Sundays, four weeks ago I started to replace the trailing arm and strut rod bushings
Took the trailing arms to 'Dub' and he installed new rubber bushings.
Third Sunday got the TA and both strut rods back on the car.
The strut rods are aftermarket so poly went back in them.
Today I reinstalled the calipers and brake fluid lines and that's done.
So thanks to your pictures I will push on!
I'm missing the WHITE plastic part, (where the cable goes into the bracket) is that necessary?
Thank M,

It's there to allow the inner cable to slide on the steel bracket without wearing it away. Chances are you're not using the parking brake much (if at all) so the wear won't be an issue. I'd say go ahead you can always add it alter on when you get one
