Hey Guys I'm changing out a dash wire harness. I pulled the two bolts inside and the 3/8 bolt in the engine compartment. When I pulled on fuse box the whole thing pulled into cockpit. Should I have unplugged the engine side before pulling the interior screws? shouldn't it just separate at this point? Any one care to share tips or pointers?

This is a pic of a 72' like yours. I just found in my assembly manual the fuse box/it looks like (I just erased my last response) you're fine, the box mounts onto the firewall it's not sandwiched I believe.
Photos of Assembly Manual not uploading, try in the AM.

You can kind of see how it pulled thru. I didn’t see any busted fiberglass. But I shut it down after it pulled thru
I’ll try post some more in the morning

If you want to check out the back of the box for broken wires just unscrew the engine side an pull it apart. ITs pretty straight forward, BUT my original main connector had some sort of black weather proofing grease that was pretty nasty, so be careful of getting that stuff on your interior or carpet if yours has it.
