Air Cleaner, Snorkel???

Air Cleaner, Snorkel???
Ok, heres the problem: I built up a 385 stroker, and had a custom hood on the car, well sold the hood and scoop and I put the stock hood back on. Ok, I'm using the Edelbrock airgap intake and a demon850carb. When their is no air cleaner on the carb, there is about 2 to about 2.5 inches, directly above the carb. On my 79, like all c3's the hood slopes foward so theirs even less clearance as you go foward. I have a one inch plate under the carb to clear the vacc. port on the back of the intake. I'm fixing to install a nitorus kit, so Im going to take the one inch plate off and just use the nitrous plate, hopefully it will give it enough room to clear the vacc port. I need some ideas....what should I do. I don't want to replace the intake, and don't want to cut the hood at-all. I'm think of something along the lines of a custom snorkel that I can run down to a cone-filter of some sort, can I still get enough air like this??.......this car is by no means a show car, or numbers car, so throw any ideas my way. Once I get some ideas, I'll pick one, and take pictures the whole way threw the project. Help me turn you ideas into my problem solver. Thanks guys!

If you really want some good advice, contact 1YY07. He's a senior member and knows these cars like no body I've ever seen. I wish I had the time to go into detail about what he's done to my car. He's expensive, BUT GOOOOOOD!! He will discuss problems with you over the phone for free. Can you fit a drop Base Air filter?? I am running a 1/2 inch wood spacer off my intake to clear the vacum port and a 650 Demon and it fits find with a drop base air cleaner that I got from summit..... :cheers:
