Default Gauge cluster wire help

I’m trying to find homes for these 4 wires. I know one of the pink and green goes into the engine compartment but I have 2 one is wrapped in tape so I figure that one goes there . The other one I just don’t know. The other 2 Yellow and a blue laying on carpet trying to locate the connection. Both wires come from the center gauge bundle.

And these two bulbs same area but I’m lost. Maybe a radio light?

2 yellow with blue might be the W/S/W solenoid (is that harness year specific? I don't think you have the wiper door)

is the pink or green striped?
M

Anyway, I'm looking at an older wiring diagram so it probably doesn't apply.

No sir the pink and green aren’t striped. One of them goes into engine compartment to the right of wiper motor. This car had a wiper door but was removed. Yes the harness is for a 72 non a/c

OK, the only plug I see with 2 yellow and 1 light blue is the "tach solenoid"
Let me double check the pink

The other one (pink green) should be the one that goes to the harness that connects to the automatic shifter BU and neutral
M

Don't show any pink/white and black lights,

If it's pink/white and black/yellow it could be the seatbelt light

I don’t have that plug. It’s a stick by the way

I believe your new harness has both connectors then (stick and auto) at least that's what it looks like. Does the end of either look to plug into the reverse switch on your pedals (I think that's where it is, or is it on the trans for stick cars?) probably the taped up one.
Those are the only pink/green I show on my schematics

Yes one does go into engine compartment I haven’t traced it yet but it’s probably the reverse lights. The old harness doesn’t have two just the one. So you are right. The old harness has some mods from previous owners. That light I can’t find it either. I called The people who made the harness one fella transferred me to another and he must of been having a bad day as he was no help.

Do you have a pink/white and yellow/black light for the seatbelt light already identified?

I think so I’ll have to verify in the morning. I’m seeing wires in my sleep

Looks like you were right. Now where is this thing located at? The wiper door is long gone. Has a later cowl hood. Do I need this with the door gone.

That solenoid was the one bolted behind the tach (often called the tach solenoid just to make it more confusing)

All it did was open the vacuum solenoid to allow the vac system to raise the door, doesn't sound like you need it anymore. Label and tuck it away

I’m getting pretty close to checking my handy work with this harness install. The reason for the change out was some burnt wires from a charging issue. Any ideas on protecting the harness while putting power to it? It was only smoking when I guess the alternator was putting juice out. The Brown wire to ignition was burning. I’m waiting on a ignition switch then Steering column going back in. Then applying power.

Short of putting a fuse on the main wire for the first power-up (amazing how much power the clock and interior lights draw on their own, part of the reason I went quartz and LED) just being methodical and diligent in your wiring install is the best insurance I know of
(maybe leave the brown disconnected for the first power up , hopefully you did see something wrong with it that caused the issue in the first place?)
