Production Date on a 77
Can anyone tell me what month my 77 was mnaufactured? It has an L01 date code on the trim plate. I know the 01 stands for the first of the month, I'm just not sure what month they began production.

I'm not sure what you're looking at for the L01.
The Vehicle Certification Label (on the driver's door) has the actual month & year (mine is 08/77) under the DATE heading.

I'll take another look Jerry when the sun is up. Other people have posted that there is a letter followed by two numbers to indicate the date of production, with the letter standing for the month based on the date production began.

"L" would stand for July 1977. Your VIN should be between 41233 (last day of June) and 45179 (last day of July). Which means yours should be right after 41233 ( within 50 or so).
