You tore the whole back end of the car apart so it's obvious you are not going to do the usual just bigger flaring around the tire area. Getting anxious to see it.

Unless this sells soon(for sale on corvette Forum) I'll be racing my Z06 this year in Great Lakes NASA ST1.
I installed one of these a few years ago. It will get you to about 350 RWHP. St1 is a bad *** class!

looks like a nice engine. Not really going to matter but I guess it's become a sales tool to stick a high volume oil pump on everything.

Rotors cleaned up and painted ready to be turned. Calipers painted and ready to be rebuilt and put back together.

Control arms rebuilt, painted and ready to be installed.

I'll put the knuckles back together today so when the ball joints and shocks get here the front suspension can be reassembled. Hope to have the front suspension together by next weekend.
If the weather does not get warmer by next weekend to start the body parts I will start cleaning up the engine.

Probably start working on the engine next. Replace all seals and gaskets, find a new carb, replace spark plugs and wires. Clean it up. Not going to go much deeper than that for now.

You could make 350 RWHP out of that 2 bolt L-48 no problem....all day long. Just add some ARP main studs to it.
An Eagle cast steel crank with SIR rods and forged pistons is a $1000 rotating assembly.......if you are good with reusing stuff you could buy a pair of Dart 180 heads and a nice cam to make a 425hp package for less than $3500 reliably.....

Rear bushings replaced.

Front suspension complete and reinstalled. All new stainless brake lines.

Firewall painted.

Next rebuilding the power steering system.

Now to figure out what needs to be rebuilt and replaced.

Still waiting on parts to rebuild the rear calipers. Hopefully this week.

With the Covid going around and shutting things down. I decided to go Fiberglass instead of carbon fiber. Not working for 9 weeks (sick for 4) hurts the pocket book. Going to give the rear clip a shot over the next few weeks. We'll see how it goes?

Mold with gel coat applied.

3 layers of 1.5 oz fiberglass and some supports.

For my first attempt with fiberglass turned out about a 6. Gel coat did not harden around the front and rear lips. I will have to fix that but all in all not bad. A lot lighter than the stock hood.

I'll open up the cowl a bit to let more air flow though the engine compartment.

Making a few carbon pieces for the gauge cluster and shifter panel.

Are you going to get a helper when you do those big pieces ? That's a lot of work for one guy with the clock ticking on the resin life.

What type of glass and resin are you using. Are you weighing things to compare to old stuff.

Using 3 layers of 1.5 oz chopped strand mat and polyester resin with a gel coat. I will weigh the hoods today. Just by feel the new hood is considerably lighter. I'll keep you posted.

you have to use polyester resin with gel coat, is that right..? Kevlar is strong and light wonder what the price would be compared to carbon fiber.

Weighed the 2 hoods yesterday. The stock hood weighed 35 lbs and the new hood weighed 18 lbs. The stock hoods hardware and hood latch system will not be reused another 8 lbs. I will be using quick latch hood pins should be here tomorrow. Should weigh only a lb or 2. Kevlar is just about the same cost as carbon.

Steroids rack and Pinion installed with New radiator.

Brake booster and master cylinder installed with all new brake lines.

Front body work done, sanded and ready for paint.

Painted door jams and hood surround black.

Hood looks good!

New seats and interior are here. I want to make the rear clip and get it mounted before I install the new interior. Still just waiting for temps to get in the 70's here in Michigan. Hopefully this weekend? Its getting there having trans rebuilt. Once that is back motor and trans will be ready for install.

All the keyed areas have been sanded feathered and filled.

Damn nice job. I tore the interior apart in my Pace Car a dozen years ago right to the firewall. It's quite a feeling of accomplishment when it's done.
