Default Fuel Line Replacement While Doing Body Mounts

All the mounts are loose. Just have to disconnect/loosen the remaining points before the body is lifted. I think I can get the body up about 8 inches over the frame. The car is a manual so has a welded in trans cross member. Car is on a QuickJack and is about 17 inches off the ground.

Can the hard fuel lines be replaced with the body lifted this amount and with a welded in cross member? Has anybody done this? Do you have pics?

I appreciate any advice on the subject.

Yes you should be able to get the fuel lines in there like that. Some people have done it by just lifting the passenger side (loosen the drivers) and getting it up off the frame a few inches (4 seems to me the number, likely 2x4 block type of thing)
Still like doing steel origami to thread that line in

I would add a fuel return line if you ever plan on going to fuel injection in the future

Holley has a C3 sending unit now that doesn't require a return line, someone was kind enough to turn me on to it and I installed it on my build.

Holley 255 LPH OE Style EFI Fuel Tank Modules
Part #12-311

But, there are other choices so installing the return may be worth consideration for sure.

I would second that idea - better to have one especially if you want it to return to a stock setup. I am interested in this simply because I plan to replace my fuel lines in the future as well.
As for lifting the body off 4-6 inches, I suspect that you'd still have to unplug all the engine compartment wiring and remove the brake line connections to the M/C and trans mission linkage?

The big block (and I believe LT1) ran a return line so the lines and clips are all available and even if "capped" wouldn't look totally out of place. Even without FI, a return fuel pump isn't a completely bad idea

1969 had a fuel and return line. Both are being replaced. All mounts are loose except for #4 which is being cut off. The mount reinforcements are rotten so I get to replace those as well. Ill start taking pics.

Sammy, definitely interested in your progress, especially what you had to remove or loosen to lift the body 4-6 inches.

What all would have to be loosened/removed to lift the passenger side enough to replace the lines? Currently have my engine out and am considering installing EFI. Might want to do this before I install the engine back.... Thanks

Here is my list thus far...as it relates to a '69

1. Splash shields left and right (access to #1 mount)
2. Loosen MC from booster/firewall and loosen pro valve bracket. I am taking mine completely out since I am replacing all of the brake hard lines
3. Clutch linkage - pedal rod to Z-bar
4. Rocker panels
5. Antenna ground
6. Battery ground
7. Body ground on driver side
8. Rear bumper supports
9. Loosen front bumper supports and radiator support. I am going to remove the bolts from the side I am lifting.
10. Disconnect the steering column from the steering box or drop the box off the mount.
11. Not sure about the parking brake cable...might just leave the handle down
12. Shifter should be okay

I think that is it. We will find out fairly soon.
