Man what a journey this has been. Of the entire ordeal of pulling an engine/trans and replacing it, the hardest part was installing the shifter (4 speed). I can't wait to drive it!
I left the 4 speed Super T-10 in the car when I pulled my 78 L-82 for the rebuild.....I think it is much easier that way.
Also, what make is the 4 speed in an 81? Super T-10 or Saginaw? Either way, I would be careful with a SBC V8 with some serious power versu the stock motor. I always roll into the throttle on my 78 L-82 355 now....don't want to break anything....

It's a Super T-10. I pulled it out and had it rebuilt, told the shop what I was putting it behind and they "upgraded" it. Honestly not sure what that means, but I don't intend to race the car.

perhaps rollerized first gear (instead of OE bushing) ... commonplace beginning upgrade https://www.hotrod.com/articles/ctrp...ssion-rebuild/
Tony Hancock mentioned above ... Tony helped us in circletrack ... VERY good trans & Ford 9" & quickchange guy ...IIRC/TMI: he used to have a thing for Whizzer bikes.
